My dear Vinayakrowjee,
Allow me the liberty to introduce the bearer Bhaskerao Bhauoo to your favourable notice, who is cousin to the adopted son of the late Nana Farnavis, who, I have no doubt, will meet at your hand the honour due to his rank.
I do not know at which stage any application, respecting my honorary title, has arrived. Young gentlemen, I imagine, dislike corresponding with old hands, because they know Purvoe English, not *palatible to young ones, knowing gramatical language, but this, I hope, will not deprive me of the pleasure of hearing from you on the point in question; hoping you are in the enjoyment of good health. (* Palatible, gramatical, वगैरे स्पेले मोरोबा सदाशिवाच्या Puvoe ( परभू English चे मासले आहेत. विरामचिन्हेंही मासलेवाईक आहेत. मुंबईच्या इंग्रज लोकांत Purvoe ह्मणजे खर्डेघाश्या, असा Purvoe या शब्दाचा रूढ अर्थ इ. स. १६०० पासून आहे.)
